Security alerts and "New Sign-in" emails

Written by Sjoerd Kortekaas

To give you complete transparency over your account activity, E-Flux notifies you whenever security-sensitive actions take place. This ensures you are alerted immediately if an unauthorised person tries to access your account.

Why did I receive a "New Sign-in" email?

We automatically send a security notification whenever your E-Flux account is accessed from a web browser or device that our system has not recognised before.

Common triggers (no action required)

If you were the person who just logged in, you can safely ignore the email. Your account is secure. You will routinely receive this friendly alert if you:

  • Logging in from a new laptop, phone, or tablet.

  • Using a different web browser (e.g., switching from Chrome to Safari).

  • Logging in using an Incognito / Private Browsing window.

  • Clearing your browser cache and cookies.

  • Using a VPN or a new Wi-Fi network that changes your virtual location.

Why the system does this

For security, our platform recognises your device using a small secure token stored in your browser. Clearing your history or opening an incognito tab removes that token, making your browser look like a "new" device to our system.

What to do if it wasn't you

If you do not recognise the device, location, or timestamp listed in the alert email, someone else may have obtained your password. Please take these immediate steps to secure your account:

  1. Change your password: go to dashboard.e-flux.com, click Forgot Password? (or update it under your account profile settings), and create a strong, unique password. Changing your password will automatically log out all active sessions across all devices.

  2. Contact Support: if you are locked out of your account, suspect your email address was changed, or notice unauthorised activity, contact our Support team right away by starting a chat here.
