What you'll need
A phone number on your account that can receive SMS text messages
Access to the email address linked to your account (if this is the first sign-in method you're adding)
Steps
Go to your account settings. Click your name in the bottom left corner, then open Password & Authentication under Personal settings.
Click on "Set up" next to Text message (SMS).
Confirm your email, if prompted. If this is the first sign-in method you're adding, you'll be asked to confirm it's you. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your email address and select Verify.
Review and enable SMS sign-in. You'll see a summary explaining that a 6-digit code will be texted to you each time you sign in, sent to the verified phone number on your account. Select Enable to continue.
Enter the verification code. E-Flux will text a 6-digit code to your phone. Type this into the code fields shown on screen and select Verify.
Once verified, SMS sign-in is fully set up and active on your account. You'll also receive a confirmation email letting you know a sign-in method was updated, along with what to do if it wasn't you.
Managing your SMS verification
Once set up, the Text message (SMS) entry will show as active under How you sign in. From here, you can:
Replace it with a new phone number
Remove it if you no longer want to use SMS to sign in
Tips
Set up backup codes as well, so you can still sign in if you lose access to your phone or don't have signal.
Add a recovery email for an extra way to regain access to your account.
SMS is convenient, but less secure than a passkey or authenticator app — consider one of those if you want stronger protection.
If you ever receive the confirmation email for a change you didn't make, sign in right away and secure your account.
