Learn how to set custom tariffs for E-Flux by Road users from other accounts

Written by Bob Gerrmann

What are custom tariffs for external users?

Custom tariffs for external users allow you to set specific charging rates for E-Flux by Road users that are not part of your account. This means you can offer a different tariff — for example a discounted rate — to users from other organizations when they charge at your stations.

This is useful when you want to give partners, suppliers, or other known contacts a special rate without adding them to your own account.

Please note: only account admins can create and manage custom tariffs for external users.

How does it work?

Custom tariffs for external users are managed through access groups. As an account admin, you create an access group, add external users by their email address, and set a custom price for each user.

How to set up custom tariffs for external users

  1. Navigate to the Access groups (under My Locations) page on your dashboard.

  2. Click + New Access Group and select type Users.

  3. Give the access group a recognisable name.

  4. Select a visibility:

  • Private: only visible to you.

  • Shared: visible to all users in your account.

  1. Once the access group is created, open it and click Add member.

  2. Select External user.

  3. Enter the email address of the user. This person must already have an account on the E-Flux by Road platform with that email address.

  4. Choose price type Custom.

  5. Enter the tariff you want to apply to this user.

The custom tariff will be applied whenever this external user charges at your stations.

Using custom tariffs for private chargers

Custom tariffs for external users can also be used to set up a private charging station where only specific users can charge, while still settling the energy costs.

Normally, roaming needs to be enabled to settle charging costs. Roaming enables other public charge cards to charge at the charging station. However, by adding a user with a custom tariff to an access group and assigning that group to a charger, you can turn roaming off. This means no one else can charge at that station besides the users in the access group — while you still retain the ability to settle costs through the custom tariff.

This is particularly useful for HOA/VvE situations. For example: a residents' association has a charger installed for one specific resident. By creating an access group with that resident as an external user, assigning a custom tariff, and linking the group to the charger with roaming disabled, only that resident can charge there. The energy costs are still settled with the HOA — no other users can access the charger.

Good to know

  • Only account admins can create access groups and set custom tariffs.

  • The external user must already have an E-Flux by Road account. You add them by their email address — they do not need to be part of your organization.

  • You can add multiple external users to the same access group, each with their own custom tariff.

  • To change or remove a custom tariff, open the access group and edit or remove the member.
