Trusted devices in the E-Flux dashboard

How trusted devices work, when they stop being trusted and how to manage them in your account settings.

Written by Sjoerd Kortekaas

If you sign in to the E-Flux dashboard from the same computer or phone most days, you can mark that device as trusted after entering your verification code. For the next 7 days, signing in with your password on that device won't ask you for a code again.

How to trust a device

  1. Sign in to the E-Flux dashboard in your browser with your email address and password.

  2. Enter the verification code we send you.

  3. On the Trust this device? screen, choose Trust this device. If you'd rather keep entering a code every time, choose Not now.

Attention: *Trusting a device is optional. Only trust a device you use yourself, and never a shared or public computer.*

When you'll still be asked for a code

A trusted device skips the code when you sign in with your password, but we'll still ask for one in a few cases:

  • When you do something sensitive in your account, we ask you to confirm it with a fresh code, even on a trusted device.

  • If you sign in with a recovery code, you can't trust the device from that sign-in.

  • Signing in with single sign-on (SSO) or a passkey works exactly as before.

When a device stops being trusted

A device stops being trusted, and you'll be asked for a code at your next sign-in, when any of these happen:

  • 7 days have passed since you trusted it.

  • You change or reset your password.

  • You change how you sign in, including the phone number your SMS codes go to.

  • You or an administrator remove trust from the device (see below).

To keep skipping the code after that, just choose Trust this device again the next time you're asked.

See and remove your trusted devices

Go to Settings > Devices in the dashboard to see every device you've trusted. From there you can remove trust from any device you no longer use or don't recognise.

Removing trust doesn't sign the device out. Anyone already signed in stays signed in, but the next sign-in on that device will ask for a verification code again. An administrator on your account can also remove trust from your devices.
