Insights: your charging stations at a glance

See how your charging stations are doing on one page, and arrange the dashboard around the figures you check most.

Insights is a dashboard in the E-Flux by Road platform that brings the key figures about your charging stations onto one page: what's happening right now, what needs attention, how your stations are used and what they earn. You can also arrange it around the figures you check most.

Who can use Insights

Insights is included in every E-Flux by Road plan and is available to account admins in the dashboard. You only see the widgets for data your account can access.

Opening Insights

  1. Log in to the E-Flux by Road dashboard.

  2. Select Insights in the menu.

Choosing a period

At the top right, choose Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 14 days or Last 30 days. Figures are compared with the period before, so you can see whether things are going up or down.

What you can see

At a glance

  • Sessions and energy for the period, with the change against the period before.

  • Revenue excluding VAT, split by tariff component (energy, charging time, start fee and idle fee) and by payment method (card or app, scan to pay and tap to pay).

  • Running sessions: how many sessions are running right now.

Live status

  • Connectors by status: how many connectors are available, charging, occupied, faulted, unavailable or unknown, as of the time shown.

  • Connectors in use: the share of your usable connectors in use right now.

What needs attention

  • Open issues: your open issues by severity.

  • Needs attention: a short list with faulted connectors first, then critical or high issues, then the charging stations that have been offline the longest.

  • Station map: where your charging stations are, with their live status.

Your charging stations

  • Stations by status: how many charging stations are live, onboarding, being activated or out of service, plus any custom statuses you've created.

  • Station estate: how many charging stations you have in total, and how many were activated in the period.

Usage over time

  • Sessions per hour or per day, split into completed, active and invalid sessions, with the most common reasons sessions were invalid.

  • Station utilisation: how much of the time your connectors were in use, hour by hour or day by day.

  • Most active charging stations, ranked by sessions, energy or revenue.

More widgets to add

Some widgets aren't on your dashboard by default. You can add them from the widget catalogue (see Customising your dashboard), where each one is labelled with its area, such as Charging stations or Cards.

Charging stations

  • Invalid by reason: why sessions in the period were invalid, with the most common reasons first.

Cards

These widgets show charging with the charge cards and app on your account, at your charging stations and on other networks. In the catalogue, this is what "your users" refers to.

  • Sessions by your users: sessions charged with their cards or the app in the period, against the period before.

  • Energy charged by your users: the energy they charged in the period, against the period before.

  • Cost of your users' charging: what their charging cost at the charging station operators in the period, excluding VAT.

  • Your users' spend this month: what their charging has cost so far this month, where it's heading by the end of the month, and last month for comparison.

  • Your users' spend over the month: the same cost added up day by day, with the forecast to the end of the month and last month beside it.

  • What your users paid for: how their roaming sessions split into energy, charging time, start fees and idle fees, where the operator's records allow that split.

  • Price per kWh by network: what a kWh costs on each network, with AC and DC shown separately.

  • Countries and cities: where they charged, and what a kWh cost there.

  • Charging by weekday and hour: when they start charging, hour by hour through the week.

  • Cards ordered: the charge cards and tags ordered on your account in the period, against the period before, with how many were cancelled and how long people waited for a card number.

  • Card orders over time: the cards and tags ordered per day, or per hour over the last 24 hours.

  • Where the ordered cards are now: the cards ordered in the period by where they are now, from awaiting payment to active or cancelled. Click a status to open the card list.

Customising your dashboard

  1. Click Customise at the top right.

  2. Drag a widget by its handle to move it, or pull one of its edges to resize it.

  3. To add a widget, click Add widget and choose one from the widget catalogue. It's placed at the bottom of your dashboard, ready to move and resize.

  4. To remove a widget, click the bin icon on it.

  5. Click Save to keep your layout, or Cancel to discard your changes. Reset brings back the default layout, and Add row adds a collapsible section you can use to group widgets.

Once your layout is saved, you see the same dashboard on any device you log in from. On a tablet or phone, the dashboard adapts to your screen.

Keeping figures up to date

Each widget shows when its figures were calculated. Click Refresh to update them, or use the menu next to it to refresh automatically, from every 30 seconds up to every hour.

FAQs

Why can't I see Insights in my dashboard? Insights is available to account admins. If you're an account admin and can't find it, contact our support team.

Why are some widgets missing or empty? You only see widgets for data your account can access, so some widgets in the catalogue may not appear for you. A widget can also be empty when there's no activity in the selected period, for example no invalid sessions.

Will my layout look the same on another computer? Yes. Your layout is saved to your user, so you'll see the same dashboard on any computer or browser you log in from.

How up to date are the figures? Each widget shows when its figures were calculated. Click Refresh to update them, or set the dashboard to refresh automatically.

Why doesn't the revenue match my credit note? Insights shows revenue excluding VAT for the period you've selected, such as the last 30 days, while your credit note follows your billing period. Sessions paid in other currencies are counted separately. Insights also uses its own data source, which is updated from the main platform, so figures can be slightly behind for a short time.

What does utilisation mean? Connectors in use shows the share of your usable connectors in use right now. Station utilisation shows how much of the time your connectors were in use, hour by hour or day by day.

What makes a session invalid? A session counts as invalid when, for example, it continued after authorisation was denied, it used less than the minimum energy set for the charging station, or it was started with a charge card that wasn't authorised. The Sessions widget lists the most common reasons for your charging stations.

Can I see Insights for a sub-account? No. Insights covers one account, the one you're logged in to.

Can I use Insights on my phone? Yes, you can view it on a tablet or phone, and the layout adapts to your screen. To customise it, use a computer.

Can I suggest new widgets? Yes. Contact our support team and tell us what would help you run your charging stations.
