Automatic deactivation of SIM cards

Automatic blocking when used in a different device

Written by Sjoerd Kortekaas

SIM cards issued by Road can be deactivated automatically in two situations: when inserted into a different device, or when monthly data usage reaches a set limit. This article explains both.

Deactivation when switching devices

When a SIM card is inserted into a different device than the one it was previously used in, it will be automatically blocked. This helps prevent misuse and keeps our network secure.

What still works:

  • Reinserting the SIM card into the same device: no problem – it will continue to work normally.

  • Inserting the SIM card into a different device (even if temporarily) will result in automatic blocking.

Deactivation due to high monthly usage

If a SIM card's data usage is too high within a calendar month, it will be automatically deactivated once it reaches a set limit. The SIM card will be reactivated automatically at the beginning of the next month.

Frequently Asked Questions

This helps us protect against unauthorized use and ensures network stability for all users.

How can I unblock a SIM card that was blocked due to a device switch?

Email our support team at [email protected] with the SIM card details and the reason you want to reactivate it.

Can I move the SIM card to a new device for troubleshooting or replacement purposes?

We understand some situations require this. If a new device must be used, please contact support in advance so we can guide you through the process without triggering a block.

Does this apply to all SIM cards provided by Road?

Yes, this policy applies to all Road-issued SIM cards, regardless of the hardware or service plan.

Will my SIM card come back online automatically after a usage-based deactivation?

Yes. If your SIM card was deactivated because your monthly usage reached the limit, it will be reactivated automatically at the start of the next month — no action needed on your part.
