What is auto configuration and how do I use it to prepare a charging station for my customer?

Explains what auto configuration is and walks installers through checking a charging station online and preparing it for customer registration using the E-Flux by Road dashboard.

Every charge point has certain settings that are generally equal for each charge point. A customer, manufacturer or partner can adjust the settings to their liking. The auto configuration option will check the configurations of the charge point and automatically adjust them so they're set correctly.

With E-Flux by Road's convenient maintenance dashboard, checking whether a charging station is online and getting it ready for your customer's registration has never been easier.

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Log in to your E-Flux by Road account;

  2. Go to setup new EVSE and confirm the charge point is connected to the energy grid;

  3. Enter the serial number or OCPP ID to retrieve the charging station;

  4. Once the charging station has been retrieved, select setup charge station;

  5. Click on fix all. The platform will now automatically adjust all settings correctly using the auto configuration — you can also find this option under the diagnostics tab;

  6. Select the correct sockets.

Please note:

  • Socket 1 is always the leftmost socket, Socket 2 is the one next to it. If there is a third socket, it's the rightmost one.

  • For AC Sockets, always enter 230 volts, and depending on the maximum amperage of the charging station, enter the amperage.

  • For DC Sockets, enter the voltage and amperage as follows: use this tool to enter the maximum power in kWh. Then fill in the maximum voltage of the DC charger (for example, 800 or 400 volts). The tool will indicate how many amps you need to enter.

Important: only use the tool to fill in the correct voltage and amperage for DC chargers. Don't know the voltage? Ask the installer or manufacturer. If you truly don't know, enter 400. This tool is not developed by E-Flux by Road, and we are not responsible for any issues that may arise.

  1. Click confirm. The charging station is now added to your Maintenance Dashboard, and the customer can register the charger.
