MFA for installer team accounts: individual dashboard access

Sharing a single login creates unnecessary safety risks. Here's why individual installer accounts matter.

Written by Sjoerd Kortekaas

If your team shares one login to manage charging stations, now's a good time to set each person up with their own account.

Why it's worth doing

We get it, a shared login is easy. But for an installer, that one login often opens the door to charging stations across many of your customers' sites, not just one. If it ever leaks, everything you manage could be exposed at once.

Moving to individual logins also means:

  • Uninterrupted access. Each technician signs in from their own device, with no waiting on colleagues for verification codes or access.

  • Safer customer site access. Access to your clients' charging infrastructure stays properly managed and secured.

  • Clear activity tracking. A reliable audit trail of who performed which action or station update, across all your sites.

We've made this easier for you

  • Account Admins on installer accounts can now invite teammates directly into the Field Service Technician role.

  • Every installer account now has an Account Admin assigned, so there's always someone who can send those invites.

For Account Admins: setting up your team

  1. Log in to your dashboard as Account Admin and select Users from the side menu.

  2. Click + Invite User.

  3. Enter your technician's name and work email address, then select Field Service Technician under Account Role.

  4. Click Invite User. Your technician will receive an email to set up their password, activate their account, and set up their personal MFA.

  5. Their status will show as "Invited" in your Users list until they accept the email and finish setting up their account, so you'll know at a glance who's still onboarding.

Repeat this for everyone currently using the shared login.

For technicians: what you need to do

  • Already have your own individual account? No action needed.

  • Currently on a shared login? Ask your Account Admin to invite you using your individual work email address.

  • Once invited, you'll receive an email to set up your password, activate your account, and set up your personal MFA.

FAQ

Don't see "+ Invite User"?

You'll need the Account Admin role for that, check yours, or reach out to support if something looks off.

Getting an "email already used" error?

That address is already linked to an account, worth checking your Users list to see if the technician or installer already exists under a different role. If not, try using their individual work email address instead of a shared one.

Can we keep sharing one login anyway?

We'd recommend against it. Individual accounts give you better security, clearer accountability, and smoother access for everyone on your team.
