Owning an electric vehicle (EV) involves various costs, especially related to charging. This article explains the two main types of charging-related costs:
Costs of an E-Flux by Road charge card
Costs per charging session (set by individual charge point operators)
1. Costs of an E-Flux by Road Charge Card
E-Flux by Road offers two charge card options, each with its own pricing structure.
Comfort Charge Card
Monthly fee: €3.23 (including VAT)
Invoiced automatically each month
Charging session costs are listed separately on the invoice
No additional fees per session or per kWh, aside from the rates charged by the charging station operator
Flex Charge Card
One-time setup fee: €9.99 (including VAT)
No monthly subscription
Pay per session instead:
€0.31 per charging session (starting fee)
€0.024 per kWh surcharge at non-E-Flux charge stations
*All prices listed include VAT*
2. Costs Per Charging Session
Each charge point operator (CPO) sets their own pricing. These costs are passed directly to you through your E-Flux by Road invoice, without any markups.
Common pricing elements you may encounter:
Rate per kWh – The cost for the electricity used
Rate per hour – Additional costs based on how long your car is connected
Starting fee – A fixed cost applied at the start of the session
Example:
If a station charges:
€0.45 per kWh
€0.05 per minute
€0.50 starting fee
And you charge for 40 minutes and use 10 kWh, the session cost would be:
(10 × €0.45) + (40 × €0.05) + €0.50 = €4.50 + €2.00 + €0.50 = €7.00 (plus VAT)
Note: E-Flux by Road does not influence or modify these charging session prices.
