An access group lets you control who can charge at your station and how their sessions are billed — for example, letting a work card generate a reimbursement invoice, while a family member's card charges for free.
The two types of access groups
RFID Tokens: grants access based on RFID cards or tags (including non-E-Flux cards, like roaming cards or even non-charging badges). Sessions in this type of group are always free (€0) — you cannot set a tariff for RFID Token groups.
Users: grants access to specific platform users, and all E-Flux charge cards linked to that user are authorised. This is the only group type where you can apply a custom tariff (Custom Pricing) instead of free charging — but only for users within your own provider. Custom Pricing is not available for external roaming cards or Private Label cards.
Common use cases
Restrict your station to one person: add a specific RFID token to an access group. Typical for home stations or private chargers.
Discounted charging for employees: create a Users access group and apply Custom Pricing so employees pay a reduced rate (e.g. matching your electricity cost) instead of your public tariff.
Free charging for a family member or colleague: add their card to an RFID Token access group.
Step 1: Create the access group
Log in to your E-Flux by Road dashboard.
Go to My locations.
Select My access groups.
Click + New access group.
Choose the type:
Users — if the person has an E-Flux charge card within your account.
RFID — for cards or tags not linked to a user in your account (including third-party cards).
Give the group a name.
Set the visibility: Private (only visible to you) or Shared (visible to anyone in your account).
Save the group.
Step 2: Add members
For a Users group: add users from your account, and set their custom tariff if applicable.
For an RFID group: add cards by entering their UID or Visual Number, or import multiple members at once.
Step 3: Add the access group to your charging station
Creating and populating the group doesn't connect it to a station yet — this is a separate step:
Go to My locations.
Select the location where your station is.
Open Configuration.
Click the gear icon next to the charging station and add the access group.
Repeat for every station you want this group to apply to.
You can also link the same access group to multiple stations, so one card can be used across all of them.
Important timing note
An access group only applies to a session if the card was already a member of the group, and the group was already assigned to the station, before the session started. Adding someone afterward won't retroactively change how that session was billed — it will apply from the next session onward.
Troubleshooting
UID vs. Visual Number
UID: the card's internal chip identifier (often starts with "04"). Works for any RFID card, including non-charging badges.
Visual Number: the number printed on the card. Only works for cards already known in the E-Flux platform or roaming network.
If a Visual Number doesn't work, try adding the card via its UID instead — you can find this by scanning the card at your station, or check how to find the RFID code of a charge card.
Card added, but the tariff isn't applied
Confirm the card is in an access group of type Users (not RFID) if you expect a custom tariff — RFID Token groups are always free.
Confirm the access group is actually linked to the station the session happened on.
Confirm the card was added before the session started (see the timing note above).
